In the heart of the picturesque Land of 100 Lakes, on the grounds of a former estate in Prusim, lies an extraordinary place – the Olandia Open-Air Museum, created by the Olandia Foundation. This living museum transports visitors back in time to the 17th century, showcasing the culture and architecture of Dutch settlers, known as "Olędrzy," who inhabited these lands centuries ago.
The Olandia Open-Air Museum is a faithful reconstruction of a typical Dutch village, featuring buildings characteristic of the Olędrzy settlers. Here you'll find authentic wooden cottages with arcades, barns, a post mill, a forge, and even a chapel. Each building has been meticulously restored or built to resemble the originals, allowing visitors to feel the atmosphere of past eras. The interiors of the buildings showcase old equipment, tools, and everyday objects, offering insight into the life and work of the settlers.
The open-air museum also features:
The Olandia Foundation is dedicated to fostering historical social awareness, and the reconstruction and preservation of historical monuments is one of the Foundation's primary undertakings.
